Youth Sport Upgrades
Park-wide sporting field upgrades
Parramatta Park’s Mays Hill precinct will receive upgraded sport fields, renewed basketball courts, and new and improved cricket nets as part of a $3 million Park-wide upgrade to its sporting fields.
The upgrades are possible thanks to funding from the NSW Office of Sport and are expected to increase junior sport use of the Park’s sporting fields from approximately 265,000 users each year to 350,000 with the new upgrades.
The upgrades are being delivered in three stages over three years.
Stage 1 was completed in 2021 and included new turf and soil improvements.
Stage 2 will commence in July 2022 and is expected to be complete by summer 2022/23, weather permitting. Work includes:
- Mays Hill – Upgraded sport fields; renewed basketball courts; replacement and enlargement of cricket nets; installation of automated irrigation system; field drainage; underground services including power and water
- Cattle Paddock and Salters Field – Five new ‘to standard’ synthetic cricket wickets
- Coleman Oval – Water and power lead in works, new cricket pitch and associated turf levelling, and feed in line to Cattle Paddock.
Stage 3 is focused on irrigation and is scheduled for 2023 pending heritage approval.
