Symphony Under The Stars

Saturday January 20

The Crescent, Parramatta Park

One of the most well-loved Sydney Festival events returns to Parramatta. It’s the perfect evening for families and friends to pack a hamper, grab a blanket, and settle back in a Sydney summer dusk to enjoy beautiful music.

This FREE concert is always one of the most anticipated events of the Sydney Festival and 2018 promises to be no exception. Returning to the gorgeous surrounds of Parramatta Park, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra will perform a selection of beloved classical and contemporary compositions as part of The Crescent Summer Series.

It will be preceded at 6.30pm by a fantastic performance by Western Sydney's brightest stars of the future: brass and percussionists (including a champion beat-boxer!) putting their spin on the classics. So head into the Park early to catch all the fun!

Food and Drink

There will be a number of delicious food trucks and stalls for on-site purchasing from 6pm during the pre-show performance. Otherwise you are welcome to BYO your own picnic, wine or other drinks, as long as alcohol is responsibly consumed. No alcohol will be available to purchase on the night. Please recycle and dispose of your rubbish responsibly in the appropriately marked bins.

Alternatively you can start your evening with our dining partner Husk and Vine Kitchen and Bar in nearby Macquarie Street. Find out more by visiting the Husk & Vine website to view the menu and book your table!

Picnic blankets are highly encouraged to enjoy the concert or you may bring a low-back chair (low beach chair or similar). Higher picnic or camping chairs must be placed at the back of The Crescent so everyone can see!

Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash and don't disturb others.

Wet Weather

We have a rain, hail or shine policy so the concert will go ahead unless serious weather conditions prevent it. Any updates will be posted on our Facebook event page. Umbrellas are allowed until the performance begins. At this point, if you would like to use an umbrella, you will need to be at the back of the crowd so that views remain unobstructed.

No smoking

This is a smoke-free event.
