Major concerts and international acts announced for The Crescent Summer Series

Parramatta Park’s premier outdoor music venue is set to entertain up to 200,000 visitors this summer as The Crescent Summer Series program launches this week. International superstar Mariah Carey and Tropfest short film festival are just two of the highlights scheduled for The Crescent – the World Heritage-listed Park’s spectacular outdoor amphitheatre.

 “We’re proud to be hosting an incredible line-up of major Australian and international leading music and cultural events, to bring a truly diverse and exciting program to Western Sydney. It’s one that’s sure to please a range of audiences,” Parramatta Park Trust Executive Director Suellen Fitzgerald said today.

 “The Crescent is all about atmosphere, intimacy and delivering unforgettable experiences in a unique and accessible location, in the heart of the rapidly growing City of Parramatta. With a concert capacity of 18,000, it’s the perfect setting to see and hear the stars,” Ms Fitzgerald said.

THE CRESCENT SUMMER SERIES 2018 LINE-UP (December 2017 to March 2018)

FOMO– 13 January 2018

FOMO is a one-day, one-stage festival that is fast becoming one of Australia’s most loved summer events.  This year, Montreal's Kaytranada, alternative hip-hop giant Post Malone, Jersey native & rising star SZA and Tourist will play alongside Californian phenomenon RL Grime, enigmatic, Grammy nominated ZHU, Mad Decent and OWSLA favourite Drezo and boundary-pushing, London-based production duo Stooki Sound. The local rota includes NLV Records boss and Australian music champion Nina Las Vegas as well as a handful of lucky triple j Unearthed winners. FOMO Eats will also return to deliver a selection of locally sourced food and beverages.

Sydney Festival’s Symphony Under The Stars - performed by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra - 20 January 2018

One of the most well-loved Sydney Festival events returns after a record success in January this year. Continuing a long-standing Parramatta Park tradition, this is the perfect evening for families and friends to pack a hamper, grab a blanket, and settle back in a Sydney summer dusk to enjoy beautiful music. Sydney Symphony Orchestra will perform popular classics, concluding with Tchaikovsky’s rousing 1812 Overture, in an unmissable, free outdoor concert.

50 Cent - 9 February 2018

One of the biggest names in rap, 50 Cent returns to Australia in 2018 for a massive show in Parramatta Park celebrating the 15th anniversary of his seminal album ‘Get Rich Or Die Trying’, the record that took him from the streets to the top of the charts after being discovered by Eminem and Dr Dre, and which kicked off one of the biggest careers in hip hop.

With a slew of hit singles including the iconic platinum smash ‘In Da Club’, Billboard chart topper ’21 Questions’ and ARIA #2 P.I.M.P, the Crescent is set for what will be one of the biggest outdoor urban music events of the year.

Mariah Carey – 10 Feb 2018 

One of the world’s most loved and recognised voices, Mariah Carey will perform the songs that made her the biggest selling female artist of the millennium, including Hero, One Sweet Day, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, Vision of Love, We Belong Together and many more.

Tropfest – 24 Feb 2018

The world’s largest short film festival, Tropfest is back in Parra Park. Filmmakers from all walks of life will compete for the chance to be one of 16 finalists whose films will premiere live in front of thousands of people in The Crescent, and broadcast to an even bigger audience at home. This year, Tropfest is encouraging submissions from filmmakers that showcase Australia’s vibrancy and diversity. Entries are open through the Tropfest website and close 11 January 2018.

 Also in The Crescent this summer, hosted by City of Parramatta, Australia Day celebrations includingall day live music at The Crescent and fireworks finale at 9pm; and a fabulous New Year’s Eve concert with live music and entertainment, roving performances, a wide variety of food stalls and the best views of the spectacular fireworks display at 9pm, for the whole family to enjoy.
