The People of Parra Park
When I sit in the sun and watch my fishing line, I don't think about anything
I am a retired engineer. When I retired, I found I had nothing to do. My friend told me, 'You should fish. It's very good exercise.'
So, now I come to Parramatta Park three times a week for fishing. I catch black eels for sport, not for eating. When I sit in the sun and watch my fishing line, I don't think about anything. It is peaceful and like meditation. I enjoy the sunshine. It's healthy for me.
When I come down to the river, I spend 30 minutes stretching to make me feel good. The air is fresh, the trees are green, the birds are singing, the river is blue. It's very beautiful. I moved here three years ago and every day I walk by the river in the morning and afternoon for half an hour.
