Things to Do

The Park was gazetted a ‘People’s Park’ in 1858. Ever since then the 85 ha parklands have been Parramatta’s much loved big backyard.
Parramatta Park has layers of significant Aboriginal, convict and Victorian History.

Visitors can enjoy:

  • Walking or cycling the 3.2km loop cycle lane as well as other riverside pathways
  • Enjoy one of the picnic shelters & free BBQ’s
  • Take a tour of Old Government House or one of the Parks many self-guided walking tours
  • Attend one of the many events and community celebrations hosted by the Park
  • Watch grade cricket or junior AFL at Old Kings Oval
  • Enjoy scrumptious food at the Parramatta Park Café & Event Centre or Gatehouse Tea Rooms
  • Visit the Rumsey Rose Garden and enjoy one of the largest collections of heritage roses in Australia
  • Observe the 140 species of wildlife that call the Park home
